Bryan was pretty quick with the camera! This was my first tip over and it was a stupid one. My kickstand didn't go all the way down so when I went to get off the bike, it fell on me! Almost knocked me in the river too!

Heres the river I almost fell in. That might not have been too bad considering the temps!

Here we are for another quick break to make sure we are going in the right direction.

Both Bryan and I were using Magellan GPS units mounted to our handlebars. In an act of stupidity I forgot to check my GPS before leaving home and I didn't realize that I hadn't installed the topographical maps for Michigan. THis left me with just the basemap that comes with the GPS and that only shows major roads. Luckily I had former U.S. Army Colonel Bryan with to do the navigating. He did an absolutely fantastic job too. I'm sure it would have taken at least an extra day without his skills!

Alot of these trails are old railroad beds and you can really get going pretty quick, but you gotta be aware of things like this.

One word of advice for anyone thats planning on doing this. Slow down when you see bridges! There is usually a good gap from the trail to the bridge and that would be a great way to pinch flat your tire.

The nice red sand/dirt/gravel combo so common in the U.P.

The route has a bunch of side routes you can take for sightseeing purposes and we took advantage of quite a few of them.

Here is the Victoria Spillway dam.

Hmmm...

Looks like Bryan is up to no good again! Actually he's just snapping a picture.
